Retrofit Assessment
What is a Retrofit Assessment?
Retrofitting involves upgrading your home to improve comfort, sustainability, and energy efficiency, which ultimately reduces energy consumption for heating, cooling, and powering your home. Unlike new builds, older buildings are typically less energy efficient, but retrofitting allows them to benefit from modern and eco-friendly techniques that were not available when they were constructed. Retrofitting commonly includes insulation, windows, renewable technology, airtightness, and ventilation, but a qualified Retrofit Assessor should evaluate each property to determine the most appropriate next steps.
Why should I retrofit my home?
In Europe, the UK has some of the oldest and most poorly insulated housing, resulting in rapid heat loss through walls, windows, and doors. This makes it difficult to regulate temperature and increases energy consumption and costs. Retrofitting your home can lead to improved energy efficiency, reduced carbon footprint, better air quality, and a more comfortable space with fewer condensation and mold issues. Additionally, it can add value to your property.
Can I get help with the cost of a retrofit?
Only Using a PAS2035 qualified assessor with TrustMark accreditation will allow access to all government grants applicable to your home and circumstances. The UK government has many grant schemes available and you may qualify for help for different schemes depending on the property EPC rating and/or your personal circumstances.
